André Lanskoy Tapestries

The Modern Masters Tapestries is thrilled to showcase a captivating collection of rare, large-scale wool tapestries, exemplifying the bold artistic vision of André Lanskoy.

André Lanskoy (1902–1976) was a prominent Russian-born French painter and a key figure in the School of Paris. Known for his dynamic abstract compositions and vivid use of color, Lanskoy explored the emotional power of form through lyrical abstraction. His transition from figurative to non-representational work marked a deep engagement with color theory and rhythm. In the 1950s, Lanskoy collaborated with Aubusson workshops to translate his paintings into textiles, creating richly woven tapestries that retained the vibrancy and spontaneity of his originals.
