Pablo Picasso, born Pablo Ruiz Picasso in Malaga, Spain, in 1881, was a prolific and versatile artist who revolutionized the landscape of 20th-century art. His groundbreaking contributions to Cubism, Surrealism, and Expressionism established him as one of the most influential figures in modern art history.
From a young age, Picasso displayed an exceptional talent for drawing and painting. His father, José Ruiz Blasco, was a drawing professor at the School of Fine Arts in Málaga, and Picasso received early instruction from him. At the age of ten, Picasso’s family moved to Barcelona, where he enrolled in the School of Fine Arts. He exhibited his first painting, “First Communion,” at the Barcelona Provincial Exhibition when he was just 15 years old.
