Jean Cocteau “Minerve” Tapestry
Minerve by Jean Cocteau is a rare Aubusson tapestry that translates the artist’s unmistakable graphic language into the rich texture of hand-woven wool. Created in 1963 and woven by Chaulet for the Moulin de Vauboyen, the work was produced in a very limited edition of only six examples.
The composition depicts Minerva in profile, transformed through Cocteau’s characteristic economy of line and poetic approach to classical mythology.
